miso ramen with bbq pork
beef and tomato ramen
My family and I went out for ramen today and we all had conflicting opinions. I ordered the Hiyashi ramen, which is what I always get because ramen broth tends to be too salty for me. Again, hiyashi did not fail me. Doc got a the beef and tomato ramen with a tomato soup base-completely a new idea for us. It wasn’t bad. Saeyoung got the miso ramen and it was too salty. Plus the pork was mostly boiled fat. Overall, the ramen was passable, though probably not some place i will frequent.
Vegetarian FajitasNovember 22, 2008Snappy Sushi & Tea Luxe
After, we jumped over to Tea Luxe, a tea cafe chain in Boston. I shared a charming personal pot of hot cocoa. The hot cocoa was served in a cute pot with whipped cream and bits of dark chocolate prepared in
cups. I think getting to pour my hot cocoa was my favorite part. AGAIN, Roxana’s choice stole the show! She got a Chaider, obviously, a combination of apple cider and chai. The combination was magical! It had that spiced smell of Chai, cinnamon, and the sweet home-y scent of apple cider. It truly was the holidays in a pot. I stuck my nose in the tea sifter because, it made me feel like I could smell Santa Clause. It was very good. We shared two Vegan cookies across the table: chocolate chip and ginger molasses. The ginger molasses had an especially chewy texture and was covered with sugar.
mmmm!!

tom yum hot pot with tofu
I live in Thai town so i figured it was about time that I venture out and try some. I’ve often seen lines at Red Corner Asia so I went there. The tom yum was okay, not as sour as I usually like my tom yum. The generous portions of mushrooms were nice though. In general, I thought their noodle dishes were a bit too sweet. I ordered the RDC Noodles which tasted a bit like Korean bulgogi with thick rice noodles. I have a feeling there is better Thai to be had in Thai town. However, on the positive side, Red Corner Asia is open until 2 a.m. I anticipate late night after bar meals.

November 5, 2008Lemon Loaf (baking is nice)I got this recipe from the “Baked” cookbook. The recipe was a little complicated. I’d make one modification to the recipe. The recipe calls for the zest of four lemons, but I think next time I’ll double that. Zesting is a pain in the ass. Glazing, on the other hand, is fun.
Korean Restaurant On Olympic (can’t remember the nameneng myun
so this meal is a process. first they have a big pot of broth cooking at the table. Then they add vegetables and thinly sliced beef. The beef cooks and we fish out the meat and dip it in a soy sauce, sukiyaki style. Later, after the broth is sufficiently flavored with the vegetables and meat, they add rice and seaweed to make a porridge. At that point we ate cold noodles (neng myun) as a second entree. And everything is served with a collection of complimentary side dishes. Total cost for a meal for three=$58
my family eats a lot
